Painting Photographs

Having been inspired by a friends paintings I have spent the last week study video tutorials on how to use Corel Painter X. This is a software program that allows you to upload your photographs to their software and then allows you to manipulate them wherever your creative genes lead you. It has been a lot of fun and I owe Donna a great deal for the inspiration. The top image is my finished image and the bottom one the original photograph. Between them is an interim stage that I could have finished at but was having too much fun to stop.
I am soliciting your comments not only on the painting but on the art form itself. How to you feel about Art and the Digital Age?
You may not be able to see the painting detail on the Blog, but if you click on the image you will get an enlarged version.
Donna is a talented photographer that has her own website at :
www.donnaeatonphoto.com
Check it out, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

  1. Awesome work Malcolm and I am very pleased that I could inspire you! :-) I think it's wonderful that as photographers we have so many tools available to us. No are no limits to what we can create!

  2. Malcolm, Isn't it fun to be able to extend photography to its new digital limits. I love the colors and the brushstrokes you've chosen for this particular scene, which seems to lend itself so beautifully to Painter.
I look forward to the next blog.
